Hey guys---on my Massey Ferguson MF14 garden tractor----the kohler horizontal shaft engine has like a u joint right where the shaft comes out of the engine and heads back toward the rear end.  I'm trying to remove the engine, how do I seperate that shaft so I can pull the engine? thanks    TJ

It's probably bolted onto flywheel or on a keyed shaft. Just guessing never pulled one.

I assume your talking about the main driveshaft to the trannt/hydro.Almost Every Kohler K series Ive ever run  into had four 1/4 in bolts that bolted the driveshaft flange to the flywheel. Once you take out the 4 bolts the driveshaft should have a  slip yoke so you can finess is away from the flywheel. If you dont have the slip yoke you will have to unbolt the motor and slide it forward to clear the shaft.  Just thought of second option; Only seen this once though. Slip yoke rather close to flywheel- unbolt engine, slide forward, driveshaft seperates, front of shaft is bolted to flywheel by large center nut which becomes accesible once driveshaft seperates. Any problems let me know.

Leave it to a farm tractor afficianado to talk about torches and burning something up.
